Guest guest
Ask your provider for a prescription for Nystatim Swish and Swallow. You probably have a fungul infection, such as thrush, which is frequently seen in situations of these viruses. This should help, if not totally get rid of it. If I was prescribing, I would probably also do a culture before any other trials for the mouth. Marty

Guest guest
Karl, I have only been zapped once in the last 2-1/2 years, but in the first 3 months after implant, I was zapped 7 times. Prior to implant, my only episode was my " death " which brought about the implant. I had no history of heart trouble, had never passed out or had any " events " , was only 44 years old. Tests revealed I had had a heart attack previously but didn't know it--I believe that happened when I was 42; I was treated for a hiatal hernia but believe that's when I had a heart attack. The bottom and back of my heart were damaged by the heart attack, but I don't know what caused me to start going into fibrillation. Luckily, the magic of modern medicine brought me back and has kept me alive and pretty much zap free. By the way, I was told in my situation the ICD does not pace me down from tachycardia. I am not prone to tachycardia; I go straight into fibrillation and need the big jolt.
Guest guest
Hello everyone, Someone sent this e-mail to my sister and she sent it to me now I would like to share it with all of you. I have no idea who wrote it or where it came from, but it touched my heart. Guest guest
To find out if you can get HBOT paid for my Medicaid in any state, you must first find a Medicaid provider that will will take your child for hbot. If you can find one, which is very doubtful, then work on how to do it. If a state does pay for HBOT through Medicaid, as in NC, and there is no Medicaid provider for it that will accept the client, you are wasting your time. Duke has 8 chambers and they are a Medicaid provider but they will not treat CP or any brain injury because Medicaid payments are much too low. Find the provider and you have a good chance of getting Medicaid payment if you are willing to fight the battle which will probably include going to court much like has and is doing in Georgia. This will probably have to take place in several states before other states will begin following suit. The other alternative is to wait until the IHMA continues with its work and gets it accepted as a Medicaid item which will eventually happen. The problem is the wait, how long? It could take years but hopefully it will happen in the next 2 or 3 years. This is the reason I advocate standing behind the IHMA so strongly. The more members they have, the stronger their lobbying efforts will be. In politics, numbers speak loudly. In the meantime, I would not let that be a determining factor in providing HBOT for your child. Their are many ways of raising funds, getting help from civic clubs, church groups, etc. The sooner the better is pretty important with children or after a stroke or injury. There are now several HBOT centers making HBOT affordable all over the USA and Canada. Guest guest
For the person who asked Medicaid does not yet pay for HBOT in NJ. I have been in a three year battle with them. I do have a request in writing to them that I expect them to rule on any day. They never denied me as of yet. They have done nothing for almost three years. I have sent them all the documentation. When I sent them Freels case and said I was prepared to do the same they started moving a little faster. You can email me privately if you want to discuss this further. I can tell you who to contact. On Wednesday I have a hearing before an administrative law judge for reimbursement for HBOT from Horizon BCBS of NJ. This appeal started three years ago. Three times I have argued my case before a state insurance commission. Now we are on equal turf. Dr. Maurine Packard is coming as my expert witness. She is a pediatric Neurologist from Cornell Medical Center in NY. She conducted a study on HBOT and brain injury. I believe this is an important case because it is against BCBS. They tend to set the standard for other Insurance companies. This Wednesday I have to testify and so does the insurance company. Next Wednesday it is my expert and their expert. If any of you in the know can think of any questions I should ask the insurance company or their expert witness please email me. I agree with , keep fighting. Keep kicking and screaming and do it longer than them. We will win. All of you must appeal your insurance company. I can help you. I would totally do things different if I was starting out now. You must remember that this has nothing to do with science. This is about $$$. Insurance companies do not want to part with their money. So much of what is paid for by insurance companies lacks little or no supporting studies or scientific data. If the only things my insurance company paid for were things backed up by x number of double blind controlled studies then I wouldn't have an argument. But that is not the case. Your insurance company will try to tell you that but it is not the truth. I do believe in getting the science to back up HBOT for brain injuries. Actually I believe it already does. We just have to get those who hold the purse strings to admit this. So I do believe in the science but that is not the argument. Don't be fooled by that argument. It is all about $$$. Their is more science to back up HBOT for brain injuries than for using anticonvulsants to treat seizures in the pediatric population or for using traditional Physical Therapy. So why don't they pay for HBOT for Brain Injuries? Because we have not challenged them enough? We have not made them. Don't be afraid to challenge your insurance company. I would not though ask for prior approval. I would get before and after spect scans and before and after video tape. Also see your neurologist before and after (wether he believes in it or not, becuase he will believe in it after you do the treatment). Sorry for the long post. I have been fighting this battle for a long time and I want to encourage you all to do the same. Thanks for all your help. We will win. ---------------------------------

Guest guest
It has to do with the fact that the special type of fatty acid that makes up coconut oil works to help the thyroid, to speed up a sluggish thyroid. If it works better, your body works at a higher rate of metabolism, therefore you burn more calories. See the book by Dr Fife " Eat Fat Look Thin " for a better explanation. >Message: 1 > Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2004 14:45:27 -0000 > From: " blackngold0886 " <jabcor@...> >Subject: hypothyroidism and weight loss > >How can digesting 3 tbs of coconut oil per day help in weight loss >if you are taking in an extra 375 calories just by doing this. Guest guest
Many people on several lists report that the 3-4 tbsp coconut oil increases AM temperature up to about 1.5 degrees F. Your increased metabolic rate burns it off. Livestock that were fed coconut rather than seed oils become lean active and hungry, rather than the fat and slow that seed oils makes them. Guest guest
When I first started reading about coconut oil, I saw a nifty way to measure my metabolism. I own an accurate digital thermometer for cooking. Almost instant reading. I took my temperature first thing when I woke up with the thermometer in my armpit. Generally the thermometer read 94F or so. After taking coconut oil daily, or drinking a can of coconut milk, my armpit temperature on waking is now about 96 (sometimes higher) -- which means I am burning more calories. For many years (decades, actually), I would get real cold during the night & need lots of blankets, then sometimes I would sweat heavily & throw off my blankets, then get chilled again. Since I began drinking coconut milk late at night or eating coconut oil, I no longer get the chills or the night sweats. Also, with absolutely no calorie counting and no restriction on how much I ate, I lost about 20 pounds over the past 6 months or so. I am on a low carb diet because of diabetes (type II), but I eat plenty of calories with butter, meat with all the fat left on, marrow bones, and coconut oil. I suspect if I added more coconut oil, I would lose more weight -- especially if I cut back some on the butter. I have begun to drink more coconut oil to see what that does for me over the next six months. Will clogged arteries & /or high blood pressure cause one to have night chills as well as night sweats? Will either one make for low armpit temp in the early morn? And (most importantly) will eating coconut oil get rid of night chills & sweats, and raise morning armpit temps is the cause is high blood pressure or clogged arteries? I love coconut oil, but I seriously doubt it does much for either clogged arteries or high blood pressure. Alobar
Guest guest
Hi Barb - thanks for the report on your lab situation. I'm sorry to say that I've had several similar experiences at Sloan Kettering and am very close to switching to Dana Farber. The state of health care in this country ranges from precarious to awful, and it seems to be getting worse. As you say, lucky for us who have insurance and the mental wherewithal to stay on top of those folks; I can't begin to calculating the pain, suffering and unnecessary deaths resulting from negligence, incompetence, and systems overload elsewhere. Good to see you posting.
