Guest guest
Hi everybody, I am confused about the tetanus vaccine still. If the disease is contracted, what are the survival rate statistics or long term health risks? It wasn't clear in the articles that were posted so far? My daughter Autumn is a rough and tumble kind of gal and I worry about not getting that vaccine in particular. To date, she hasn't received any vaccines and I sometimes waiver when I see the potential risks of the disease. I've created an e-mail list! > >Hi everyone! > >I just created an e-mail list for moms who work outside of the home and who >practice attachment parenting. Guest guest
Just a question for anyone in the U.S. that vaccinated, Did you all receive the VIS when you vaccinated? It is the law in the U.S. but I hear very often that this was not given to the parents. If you have a chance please go and read the VIS's, they surely don't mention the " bad " things about the vaccines!! I never even heard of the VIS Statement, until now. Is it required, because I have talked to a couple of Lawyers aboutmy son suffering from brain damage due to the DPaT vaccine and they did not mention this. Anyone else have similar situation? Guest guest
Itching: I take hydroxyzine ,,,,usually only at bedtime, but may take up to 3x day , 25 mg. After being on it for a while it no longer makes you so sleepy.although I can not sleep at night without it. Topically I SARNA . Under normal cercumstances this works fine...but I have spells when the itching is SO intense that nothing seems to work. Just getting out of a spell like that. I think the increase in my water intake has helped a lot....flushing out the toxins before they can build up under my skin. Some one also just wrote me that her sister uses charcoal powder mixed in water. She said she drinks it TWO HOURS BEFORE any medication , as it would also clean that out. I have not tried it yet so ...... ask your doctor's if that is OK. I will ask mine too. Joanne

Guest guest
In a message dated 2/22/2001 5:58:06 PM Central Standard Time, Scoliosis Treatment writes: << Kay... It sounds like your daughter is not getting enough pain medication. Having her take only Tylenol at this point is cruel. Call the doctor today and get her on something stronger. It's more important, at this point, that she starts moving, than to get her off narcotics. For anyone who is about to undergo surgery (or who has a child about to do so), please try to get a sense of how your surgeon feels about pain medication. If they tell you that you'll be off narcotics quickly, go elsewhere. Good luck Kay. >> I would certainly second this advice. I doubt that you meant to deny your daughter pain relief out of any cruel motive. (So many of us are just beginning to understand how unintentionally cruel we have been to family members or to ourselves in this regard, out of a widespread cultural ignorance and fear regarding narcotics.) Also, if I'm not mistaken, you specified Tylenol with codeine rather than plain Tylenol? In any case, as suggested, you now need to put aside any worries you may have about continuing post-op analgesia for your daughter and ensure that her physicians are giving her whatever medication she may need for as long as she may need it. Although I am not a physician or mental heath professional, I have worked closely with such staff as an attorney whose practice was focused on health care -- after covering the " psychiatry beat " for some years as a medical writer -- and have encountered many people with emotional (affective) difficulties.Something in your description of your daughter's condition suggested to me a possible (I emphasize " possible, " certainly not definite) major depression. Can you find her an expert and trustworthy evaluation for this devastating medical disorder which is so especially hard on adolescents? So many of us have experienced the depressive paralysis -- the " psychomotor retardation " as that massive sense of inertia is called -- which so often accompanies and confounds severe physical pain. In some instances antidepressant medication is every bit as vital as pain medication and can help to make a person's life look livable once again. Your daughter has been through the mill, and clearly so have you. May you both find all the resources you may need for comfort, support, and healing during this very difficult period in your respective lives. Sincerely, Eliana

Guest guest
Hi Everyone,     I have Biology this year. I need some help...(No, it's not cheating to ask) Every Friday, I have to write a review on current (last two months, August, September) science news, having to do with Biology. So, I was wondering if any of you had websites/webpages with current articles... preferably SMA or respiratory/nutritional etc. related. ..Thanks.  Any help throughout the year would be helpful.  Thanks again Margaret Purk " Welcome into the world out of the dark. Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. I'm still moving. Should be in Austin Friday if they have my apartment ready (don't ask!). I have Gym In A Box. The workout is for more of a begginer level exerciser...but the strength training is worth looking at. You cannot do it with heavy weights and really focuses on functional fitness. I do the cardio on occassion for an add on or something light. But I think I will use the strength portion as an alternative to lifting lifting on some days. I told already, but I will not be able to move to a complex near a 24 hour fitness :-( There are a couple of gym options in the new neighborhood but they might be out of my price range and two are women only which sucks because I wanted Terry to join with me. I'll have to investigage furthur after I have a few paychecks in. I am GAINING weight. Which is not unusual for a move I guess. I have no energy or room to workout and all the food is packed..so we're eating so bad. I did get to the gym yesterday for my first live classs. I thought it was going to be kickboxing but it turned out to be PowerFit (weight lifting) I was really disappointed. I had fun in the class anyway, but I love live kickboxing classes. There is a class today, but I doubt I'll make it as we load today. Just Terry and I. <sigh> I will have FitTV!! I get that on the 18th. Anyone have a favorite show? Also, I found Cathe Friedrich Body Max for a dollar at Goodwill. Anyone have this? Guest guest
a, WAY cool that you will have FitTV! I wish my cable provider would pick it up! Goodwill.....I have found so MANY gems there! I found a mint condition of The FIRM Vol. 2 there, along with a ton of other sutff. Probably half of my collection has come from there. Was just there today and picked up Gin 's Intense Moves and Kathy 's Timesaver Cardio. They actually had several other Step Reebok tapes by Petra Kolber and Gin . Was trying to use some restraint, though! LOL! But at $1.99 each.....let's just say I am tempted to head back there tomorrow and pick up the rest! LOL!
