Then nominate him or her for a ... Yes I Can! Award The Foundation for Exceptional Children established the Yes I Can! International Awards Program in 1981 to acknowledge the achievements of children and youth with disabilities; overcome barriers caused by public misconceptions; encourage children and youth with disabilities to seek their highest potential; and increase public awareness of the abilities, aspirations, and personal qualities of people with disabilities. Each year children and youth with disabilities are recognized for their accomplishments through the Yes I Can! International Awards Program. Yes I Can! International Awards Nominees will be recognized in each of the following nine categories: Academics Arts Athletics Community Service Employment Extracurricular Activities Independent Living Skills Self-Advocacy Technology Twenty-seven award winners will receive a bronze statue and other recognition at the CEC Annual Convention in April 2007 in Louisville, Kentucky. Each individual nominated for the Yes I Can! International Awards Program will receive a certificate of achievement personally inscribed with his/her name suitable for framing. Braille certificates are available to those who check the box on the bottom of the nomination form. To nominate: Nominees for the Yes I Can! All nominees receive a certificate recognizing their accomplishments. Please read all criteria and guidelines carefully before completing the application. Foundation for Exceptional Children hold an Awards Ceremony honoring its Yes I Can!, professional, and student award winners. At the ceremony, each Yes I Can! winner is recognized individually. Each winner's name is read along with a description of his or her accomplishments as the child or youth receives the award.
