Guest guest
My 4 1/2 year old son with Down Syndrome was diagnosed yesterday with Celiac after his blood tests (on or third visit to the ped. for chronic diarreah, yes, doctor, we DO think the test is necessary). Fortunately, I had been following all the posts here on the board or we might still be trying to treat him with priobiotics (sp?). We're still coming to terms with the diagnosis even though we pretty much new what the results would be--finally, though, a " diagnosis " and some way to give him relief. I do have many questions (we don't see the Ped. Gastointestinologist until tomorrow). Looking at the tests results, I see that anything above 17 is positive; however, my son's levels are 31 for IGA Antibody and 84 for the IGG. Does this mean it's extremely severe (84 vs. 17). Is there such a thing as " extremely severe " . So far...my gluten-free bread I baked...flopped, he doesn't like the perkey O's; but the chocolate chip cookies I baked at midnight actually tasted pretty good (or was I just exhausted?). Please, please someone tell me that they make gluten-free goldfish somewhere!! Any advice for a newby would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Donna
