Guest guest
I am sorry to hear about your injury. I had a similar fall a year ago and used advil and cold pack for pain. I would also go for X-Rays to check if you have done any damage or fracture. I hope you feel better soon. T [ ] Another bruise issue Hi All, I forgot to add to the last post that I have a second very sore spot. I took a tumble two days ago in my apartment while chasing one of my cats, tripped over a rug and landed flat on my front side. My left breast, left chest, shoulder and back are not black and blue but sore as can be. The pain is constant and moving is difficult. Again, any bruise remedies? I guess just taking ibuprofen is the best. But if there's anything else I'd like to hear about it. Thank you! L

Your exercise or his/her's? For the black and blue post bmb.......what the body has to do now is break down the blood and absorb it. During this process it might turn that sick looking yellow/green. If you have swelling, you could use a cold pack....but at this stage you might apply some (moist if possible) heat to increase the circulation to the area which will help this process. For example, you could use a hot water bottle with a warm wet wash cloth between the water bottle and your skin. Moist heat penetrates better than dry heat. For the newer 'cat race injury' you should use the RICE concept. Rest the area....don't keep moving it to see if it hurts. You might even fabricate a sling to rest the area....the sling goes over the opposite shoulder for support. I is for ice....to decrease swelling in the area, but also increase circulation for healing. C is for compression....not practical for a large area, but again securing the arm to the chest with support should help. E is for elevation....because it helps decrease swelling. So, sitting up might feel better than lying down. I remember having a similar injury in my interferon days. My hgb was very low and I guess I got up to get a glass of apple juice and passed out in my kitchen......all I remember is waking up on the floor. But in the subsequent days, my whole upper quadrant was very sore....must have landed right on my shoulder. Take care.....hope the PT advice will help you. Guest guest
Thank you for all the great information, Nance. It's a little late for the " never chase cats " advice, but I think the reason I fell flat on my front is that I was holding his medicine bottle and medicine dropper--one in each hand. Trying to help the little rascal. I just got back from DC where I went to the American Indian Museum for the Fourth of July. I really love it and it's so inspiring. I spent several hours there (a lot of it is interactive) and then forgot to attend a concert I was intending to before I lert! I'm starting to believe in the " Gleevec/brain " connection. I took Motrin before I went and so felt no pain while I was there but I certainly will be careful about moving my left side because I was certainly in pain during the night and woke up every time I tried to turn over. Don't want a repeat of that tonight. Thanks so much, Re: [ ] Another bruise issue At 10:17 AM 7/4/05 -0400, you wrote: >Hi All, > >I forgot to add to the last post that I have a second very sore spot. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for taking the time to make suggestions. You were right about ibuprofen (I used motrin but I also use Advil). I'm not broken and feel much better today. Thanks again! L [ ] Another bruise issue Hi All, I forgot to add to the last post that I have a second very sore spot.
