Nausea and vomiting has also been reported. No serious adverse events have been reported in patients taking Essiac. Interactions *no interactions with Essiac are known, so each ingredient is examined alone *sheep sorrel and rhubarb might decrease the absorption of iron, zinc and calcium because they contain oxales with combine and decrease absorption *also it may cause low blood potassium especially when used with diuretics *burdock should be used with caution with drugs that lower blood sugar since it does this to some extent on its own Effectiveness *most of the information available on Essiac is due to testimonial reports describing positive outcomes with this therapy; no negative reports published *all available scientific information or studies suggest that it does not possess anti-cancer effects Summary *little proven benefits *few adverse side effects *relatively inexpensive *immune regulatory effects? At OHSU, 2 stable CMLers who used Essiac soon after accelerated to acute leukemia while on Gleevec...........OHSU now suggests that Essiac should not be used in leukemias. 2 other comments by Dr. Bubalo............
