Guest guest
Hi Joan, Welcome to the " Ugly Eye Club. " I got my first eye bleed this past month, and it took 2 1/2 weeks for it to completely go away. I think I got mine because it was very hot outside and I don't deal with heat very well. I also strained to lift something and I think the combination of the two did it for me. When I came home, my kids met me at the car and said, " Mom, what happened to your eye? " .. I didn't feel a thing. I looked in the mirror of the car, and.. " Oh MY!.. For myself, I continued Gleevec, and my blood work is all fine too. Some others on this list have had bleeds too, so take comfort. Everyone kept asking me what happened so I chuckled and said,, " Oh, I trying out something creepy for Halloween. What do you think? " You have to have a sense of humor, but I completely understand how you feel. Feel better. ;-) Take Good Care, Lynn Dx'd 12/03 PCRU > Hi all, > Today I had my 1st eyebleed. Guest guest
Hi Joan, My husband's been on Gleevec for almost two years now and he's had many eye bleeds. They usually start like yours did, a ping in the eye or some discomfort and then the vampire eye. His usually resolve in a few days. He's discussed these with his doctors at MD and s Hopkins (he even had the good fortune (?) to have double eyebleeds during one of his Hopkins visits so the doctor could see exactly what it looked like) and none of them is the least bit concerned. He's never stopped Gleevec or had his dose reduced because of them. They seem to come and go in cycles. It doesn't hurt to get your eyes checked, but most likely you're just experiencing Gleevec vampire eyes. Adrienne cellphonejoan <joanfporter@...> wrote: Hi all, Today I had my 1st eyebleed. I have been blessed so far I can't figure out these developments. Personally I don't think stopping Gleevec is at all necessary. Guest guest
Hi , Not to worry, those eye bleeds are strictly cosmetic problems. I've seen people get them in both eyes at the same time; now that's what I call ugly! Zavie has a picture of one his eye bleeds, maybe he'll post it so you can compare.
