Hi , The first time it happened in one eye, I had been out picking blueberries (ironical because blueberries are good for your eyes) in an organic garden for a couple hours. There was bright sunlight and I did not remember my visor, but there was overhead bird netting. As I drove home, I think I remember a rainbow effect (like the migraine type aura some of us have gotten).....and by the time I was home there was a spider web floating across my eye. I went right to my ophthalmologist, who wanted me to see another specialist right away that day, thinking I might have detached my retina (goes with the very near sighted territory also).......and the verdict was a vitreous eye bleed. I was re-examined a week later and the doc could not see any source of the bleed. The second one in the other eye occurred after being outdoor doing yardwork just a couple months later......luckily I didn't have 2 crazy eyes going on at once. This has been about 2 years ago now and no problem since. I did report it to OHSU......when I saw Dr. Druker my next visit, I asked him if he thought it was related to Gleevec and he said....'yes, we know that IM causes hemorrhages'. Anyway, just wanted to share a few more details with you. We are so glad to have you as our 'cml list consulting doctor' and our friend. love, Maui Nanc
