Guest guest
Thankyou Jackie for your reply, im surprised you werent given any copies when you signed going on Gleevec. When I went on Gleevec my Doctor gave me the forms, told me to take them home and read over them then when i signed them I also got a copy. And yes they go to Hobart because thats where we get all our scripts from. Gleevec is avaliable now on Medicare but only 600 and 400mg trial. I did get some response to it but not exactly what the doctor wanted. The reason why he was wanting to get me on the new trial of the new drug is because of my side effects. He says that im too toxic, but sadly he hasnt been able to becuase ive had some positive response to Gleevec. To go on trial with any drug you have to come under a banner and there is so much red tape. My doctor is Tim who is well known for Trialing Gleevec. Even Gleevec you still have to be under a banner. Gleevec will always be offered to me unless i go up to 30% ph. Its all very scarey but with good friends and family im sure ill get through this.. When were you diagnosed and what dose are you on..? Ive was diagnosed Nov 02 and been on Gleevec since Jan 03. Have been on 600mg trial and then put on 800mg until trial finished. Went to 600mg again until about 5 months ago when he let me go down to 400mg due to toxicity. Im now off Gleevec to give my body a break..what do you mean by scenario? as in what would happend if your not able to go on trial..? or by coming off Gleevec.? Susie Dx Nov 02 Currently not on Gleevec
