Guest guest
Hi Tracey-- Thanks for the information. Sheila will find out quickly what a wealth of information you can find on the internet and all the CML sites. (I am not new to this one, I have posted before) but Hello to you too! By treating the symptoms, I was meaning by the Neupogen or whatever else along those lines would be needed per your individual blood counts, to ensure the continuation of the Gleevec. Yes, the ANC is more important then just looking at pure WBC. I was assuming that the Md just seeing " low counts " and wanted to stop the Gleevec. That shouln't be done unless last option as there is so many other factors to look at. I had a MD want to stop when my WBC got down to 3.0 and I told him he was crazy and found another MD. I don't want to train my MD on CML, I want to know that I am getting the best options out there and along the recommendations of the newest information out there. As others on these sites, we have all learned to be an advocate for ourselves. These sites are so informative and a benefit to us all. Thank you for the information Tracey and Sheila stay posted and you will get lots of information to support you and guide you through your CML journey. Warm wishes to you all-
Guest guest
HI , Good for you for finding another doctor when the one you originally saw wasn't up to par on CML. So many of us are so vulnerable at the beginning and I think it takes some amount of courage to take control over your life and demand better. Unfortunately there are plenty of crazy stories out there about some doctors and how they're treating their patients. Like you said, these sites are important so that people can know when they're being gipped of a good service and make the effort to find better. I'd hazzard a guess that very few of us knew anything about blood cells or blood tests before we were diagnosed so how else could we know if we were being treated with competance. These sites are invaluable as far as I'm concerned. Take care, Tracey
