Guest guest
It sounds as if you have had a tumor flare, which is fairly common with lenalidomide (Revlimid). The steroids are usually all that is necessary to take care of it. It also sounds as if it is working nicely. The drop in the lymph nodes is a better indicator than the rising WBC. Rick Furman, MD > > I have been on the 5mg revlimid for 28 days. I started with a white count of 109 and platelets 134. My white count now is 152 and platelets 145. My platelets dropped to 84 and I was put on steroids for 11/2weeks. I have had night sweats, lymph node flare and really bad muscle cramps. I will say, when I was on the steroids I had no pain at all and lymph nodes went down. > I am going to start my 2nd round of 5 mg revlimid and maybe things will start happening in my favor. The fatigue has been pretty bad and I am being treated for a kidney infection now. > Fran Bullock >
Guest guest
Dr. Furman, Fran's reduction of lymph node size is not a result of steroids? I seem to remember prednisone being used for fast but not permanent reduction of nodes as a kind of " emergency " approach. Am I mis-remembering? -Ellen D. Guest guest
Certainly the steroids played a role in reducing the lymph nodes, but the Revlimid also probably played a role. The dose of prednisone typically used for tumor flare is usually too low to produce a response. > > > > > > I have been on the 5mg revlimid for 28 days.
