Dick - I have a background of years of battling with these things!!!

First, you have actinic keratoses, which are little pre-cancerous growths.

You may get an occasional basal cell or squamous cell, and if your dermatologist is good, and you go see him about icing off the harmless keratoses, he'll identify the basals and squamous, maybe do a biopsy, and then get rid of them.

The best way to get rid of them is MOHS surgery. You stay with the dermatologist, they look at what he pulled out, and tell you right there whether you're clean. Close it up, and you're good to go.

The old way, they did the surgery, sent the stuff in, and then two weeks later you found out whether the margins were clean and whether you required additional surgery.

There is a TX called FU5, where you rub your whole scalp with this awful stuff which lights up the bad guys, you look like a lobster for a month, and then, supposedly, you get new skin. I'm currently doing this because I simply had too many keratoses to deal with.

This is not dangerous stuff, you just have to stay on top of it.

Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year.
