This was from an Australian News paper, it is likely that the Phase II has

also started here. I think this drug was at MD and we've talked

about it before.

Biotech firm starts drug trials

October 5, 2005 - 1:59PM

Biotechnology firm ChemGenex Pharmaceuticals Ltd has started a Phase II

trial of its drug Ceflatonin in patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia who

do not respond to Gleevec, which is generally the first treatment used.

Chronic myeloid leukaemia is a cancer of the blood cells caused by an

acquired genetic defect.

ChemGenex said the Phase II trial could be quickly expanded to a Phase

II/III trial if results were promising and confirmed early.

The company said Ceflatonin had recently been granted orphan drug status in

Europe

Hi LizI emailed Cathrine straight back and can certainly send anyone else's views on. Anyone who has met her, as you and I have Liz, will know that she is the gentlest and most supportive person, completely committed to infant and maternal mental health and she would never say anything to make mothers feel guilty about their parenting. Apparently the Sunday Telegraph in Australia is a 'Murdoch tabloid,' and it sounds as though it should go the same way as the NOW! It is a pity, if they wanted to sensationalise, that they did not choose to highlight the cost and design of current buggies and prams. Does it really cost so much more to make them so that babies can see their mothers, or whoever is pushing them?best wishesOn 25 Aug 2011, at 17:38, Liz Plastow wrote:There hs been significant media interest about this in the UK and was featured on at least two popular day time radio shows here. I found this all very interesting and leaving aside the media and the attack on a very well meaning researcher and professional and I send her my best regards - I have a distance memory of seeing and using with parents in the late 70s early 80s when I was still in practice, a video (but it was not in those days - it was a type of film) I think made by Cow and Gate which was intended to help parents see how their toddlers in pushchairs experienced the world of the adult etc.

It had a tremendous impression on me and I used to ensure I showed it to all the ante natal groups we did (yes we did that in those days!|) and also shared the experience with my clients as it seemed so scary to be little and in a pushchair facing out and then seeing all the big world passing before you.

It is interesting to see this still remains an issue
