Guest guest
Katherina, My wife was dx in 1991 and started treatment in 2002. She sees Dr. Kipps at UCSD in La Jolla. We live in Modesto, Ca, just east of you and feel the long trip is worth it. During my career I have dealt with at least 10,000 MDs and have not met anyone who is a better clinician and researcher as well. I think that Stanford's program may be more involved with other lymphomas than CLL. My wife is seen by a local Hem/Onc who is very cooperative with Dr. Kipps who gives the direction of treatment, some of which has been delivered locally. Good health and good luck, Dan Hill Recommendations for specialist? Hi everyone,I tried this once, but my post seems to have disappeared, so I probably hit a wrong button.I was diagnosed with CLL in July (lymph node biopsy), and have been trying to learn as much as I can.I've decided that it's probably past time to see a CLL specialist. I like my onc/hematologist, but I'm thinking that I can probably get a more complete picture of my situation from someone who sees a lot of CLL. I live in the San Francisco bay area, so is there someone at Stanford who specializes in CLL? Would a trip to San Diego to see one of the specialists at UCSD be worthwhile? Any recommendations/thoughts there? It's been a bewildering - and scary - few months, I have to admit. Seems like there's a LOT of information, but few answers. Thanks to all of you who post here. It's been a great resource.Katherinadx 7/08, 44 yrs, Zap70+, CD38+, Blood counts OK 9/08, lots of enlarged nodes, on 1st W & W
Guest guest
Hi, Katherina-- Dr. Furman sent me the name of Dr. Coutre at Stanford. He lists CLL as one of his specialties, so he might be your man. I haven't yet been in touch with him myself, so can't give you any more info. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Katerina I live in Sacramento and saw Dr. Coutre at Stanford for a more definitive diagnosis and was very happy with him and his team.
