Guest guest
Dear Friends - we are going back to the scene of the crime, Nantucket, which is I think where I picked up this beastly parasite, Babesia. The local gurus on Nantucket assure me that there is no tick activity until late April, so we will be off the island before that time. I was a little concerned about leaving NYC, but as we see from our friend Chonette, you can't just sit around and put your life on hold, and wait for the next CBC. It might amuse you to know that my blood is now being studied by NYCity and NYState. They are trying to determine whether I am the first recorded case of chronic Babesiosis. I might well be, as the CLL has made a complete cure from the parasite difficult. Moral of the story, fellow sufferers, beware of tick borne diseases, our immune system is not quite capable of getting rid of them. The other thing that is not quite resolved in my case is whether all the misery I've had this year is due to the parasite alone, or whether the CLL played a red blood cell killing role in there also. It's almost amusing to deal with two of the best hematologists in town, plus an excellent infectious diseases guy, and not be able to get a straight answer. They simply do not know......
