I have a friend who developed this after taking a fairly common

antibiotic. She does not have CLL. My understanding is that it is a

type of severe drug reaction and is not just limited to those who have

taken antibiotics. Taking other classes of drugs can cause it too. I

don't know if anyone knows why some people get it. It took my friend a

while to recover but she did recover nicely.

Perhaps Dr. Furman can further share what he knows about this syndrome?
