Guest guest
There has been a few research papers that suggest that stromal cells in the bone marrow may act to protect malignant B-cells from apoptosis in their micro-environment. So why is this approach not being studied with more vigour? Further it appears that stromal cells act to prevent purine analogue and spontaneous apoptosis by increasing Mcl-1 levels. http://bloodjournal.hematologylibrary.org/cgi/content/full/114/20/4441 In 2008 it was noted that AT-101 (gossypol) was able to overcome this. http://bloodjournal.hematologylibrary.org/cgi/content/abstract/113/1/149 , Castro, Kipps et al http://www.asco.org/ascov2/Meetings/Abstracts? & vmview=abst_detail_view & confID=40\ & abstractID=34951 More on Gossypol: http://download.journals.elsevierhealth.com/pdfs/journals/0944-7113/PIIS09447113\ 08000913.pdf ~chris
