Guest guest
Hi Andy; Well, I just was in the middle of telling you my CLL story when I I got cut off and wound up back on AOL. There might be a limit on the number of characters. Here's my quick version. 1. 1994 Colo-rectal cancer; 2 very complicated surgeries. No recurance. 2. 2002 Treated with prednisone for ITP for almost 1 year. My numbers, which were very low climbed back to normal right about the time that my spleen was due to be removed.(numbers referred to were Platelets. 3. 2004 Moved to New York state and visited every type of MD that I had visited in the past. 4. 2005 January; Set up routine visits with 6 or so specialists. My oncologist is Dr. Diamond in Cornwall, NY.They diagnosed me as having CLL and I watched and waited until August of that year. In late August my WBC went to 133,000. My jaws puffed up and the cancerous cells were a week or less away from invading my left eye. My Doctors dropped everything and started chemo on Friday and continued the chemo on Saturday and Sunday and into the next week. The WBC dropped like a rock and still is there! I finished up my chemo in February of 2006 and am still in that mode.I have researched both ITP and CLL and there appears to be a link, although rare, between the two. I'm still visiting my Doctor every 2 weeks. I've had some strange things happen to me that must be side effects from the: fludarabine, cxtoxan, and rituxin that I received. My energy is not what it was. I live on the 3rd floor and when I hit my door, I'm pooped! Regards to Everyone; Wally
