Guest guest
My 2 month old grandson received his first round of vaccinations today including dtp, pneumococcal, and rota teq which I believe may be a live vaccine. Does that mean my husband, the CLLer, cannot be around the baby? If so, for how long? Thanks for all information, Stella
Guest guest
Rotateq is a live virus. There are reported cases of transmission. You need to get guidance from your husband physician as to how long the child will be contagious... " Vaccine virus transmission from vaccine recipient to non-vaccinated contacts has been reported. Caution is advised when considering whether to administer RotaTeq to individuals with immunodeficient contacts. In clinical trials, the most common adverse events included diarrhea, vomiting, irritability, otitis media, nasopharyngitis, and bronchospasm. In post-marketing experience, intussusception (including death) and Kawasaki disease have been reported in infants who have received RotaTeq.
