Guest guest
Dear Sue, The doctor doesn't think it is serious but he wants me to take care of it now as with CFS everything becomes more problematic. Interesting about the iron pots, my mom bought me a set of castiron skillets to cook in and I think I will try to get hold of blackstrap molasses just as you said, it certainly can't hurt. Also just had my first " dose " of chopped liver for lunch, there are definitely worse things in life and lucky I'm not my daughter, she is a vegie... Thanks for the advice, and it certainly can't hurt. Guest guest
> The doctor doesn't think it is serious Judy, How can anyone with CFS write such a sentence with a straight face? Do you honestly think s/he knows how serious it is, since s/he has no idea why you're ill? Guest guest
Yea, I hear calcium affects absorption of Iron. So, I'm guessing because my " food " has high calcium I'm not absorbing all the 25% of the iron in each can. So, I guess I'll need to take some V8 juice, prune juice, peanut butter or molasses on an empty stomach between meals... Guest guest
, there are lots of other foods that affect how well your body absorbs iron. If you take the iron in combination with certain other nutrients (vitamin C is one) your body can absorb it much better. Somewhere I have a list..... I had a lot of trouble keeping iron high during pregnancy. Bettylou
Guest guest
We give Taleah a liquid iron supplement called Floridix. We started giving this to her because it doesn't cause constipation and she is very, very prone to constipation. This is made from whole foods and hasn't caused any tummy upset. I've taken it off and on during my pregnancy and have been fine with it. You can pick it up at just about any health food store. Here's a website that has a little info. on it: http://www.canadianvitamins.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=38 & step=4 At 09:33 PM 5/24/2003 -0400, you wrote: >do any of you have a hard time keeping normal iron levels? Guest guest
I have tested for low iron and my hematologist says that low iron is not caused by CLL. He referred me to a gastroenterologist to see if I have internal bleeding. Anyone else out there with low iron and cll? Ron
Guest guest
I have low iron. My onco from DFCI put me on iron pills twice a day with minimum results. I had an endoscopy, and colonoscopy with negative results. I do have bleeding hemorrhoids. My proctologist wants me to swallow this camera to identify any internal bleeding that can't be seen by the other 2 scopes. I have yet to make an appointment with my gastroenterologist. Guest guest
Low iron can also be caused by gluten intolerance or celiac disease since you are not absorbing minerals.
