Guest guest
This article describes new treatment modalities for melanoma utilizing the targeting of T cells. While the results of this work sound impressive, lets keep in mind that " CLLers " are still light-years ahead in terms of treatment success and fortunately do not have to contend with what melanoma patients have to. As an aside, we do have a clinical trial that will open shortly using two currently approved agents, denileukin diftitox (Ontak) and rituximab, to attempt to induce an immune response against the CLL cells by depleting the regulatory T cells, which are thought to play a role in preventing the immune system from attacking the cancer cells. While this approach is very intriguing, it will still be very nice to have PCI-32765 and CAL-101 to offer patients.
