Guest guest
This probably is MDS secondary to treatment, although CLL can occur with MDS as two spontaneous diseases - I wrote up several cases in the 1980s. Treatment of MDS is often supportive care with transfusions and antibiotics as required. Revlimid and azacytidine are sometimes used for specific types of MDS and so is low dose ara-C. However stem cell transplant is the only curative approach. My understanding is that MDS is not likely a transformation from CLL - but a treatment-related risk affecting stem cells; and that there are many kinds of MDS and some types can be observed and managed. In cases where a transformation to AML occurs (from MDS) I think a transplant is often recommended in transplant eligible persons? ... just a layperson's impression.
