Guest guest
I think that Novartis will charge whatever the market allows until their patent runs out. Now, they have more reasons than ever to charge the highest amount because there are other medications on the horizon. They can only make money as long as there is nothing else to take their drug's place. I checked with mail order pharmacy Drugstore.com and they charge for 120 x 100mg the sum of $2458; for 30 x 400 mg they charge $2439. That is their price for people without insurance and via mail order. Usually if a person has insurance, the insurance company will negotiate the price they will pay. Gleevec sells for more than that price at the local drugstore. Margot
Guest guest
Hi Steph, Welcome to the group. There are a few members from Ontario who post here, hopefully some will give you information regarding Trillium. From what I understand, Trillium does help (using a means test to determine how much they will pay) but they aren't very fast with their reimbursements so you will usually be a few months behind. I have a question for you though, which pharmacy do you go to to get Gleevec at $3000? That would be a bargain here as I pay $3700. Take care, Tracey > > Hello everybody I am new to the group. Guest guest
Hi Steph, You might also try the manufacturer, they have a program to help people who cannot afford Gleevec. I am not sure how it works in Canada but they gave me mine for free for a couple of months until my medicare part D kicked in.
