Guest guest
I heard that CAL-101 is very good at enlarged spleens as well. That would be good news indeed. Here is my question for Dr. Furman: if the spleen was swollen prior to CAL-101 therapy and became normal size after completion of CAL-101 therapy, will this influence improvement in CBC results? Is it true that a heavily swollen spleen can sequester / destroy platelets and red blood cells? Can the counts improve when the spleen is back to normal size - independent of significant clearance of the bone marrow? I am confused by some of these interdependent effects and would appreciate a clarification. Thank you for your time. Larry > It has been stated that in the CAL 101 clinical trials bone marrow biopsies were performed pre-treatment but not afterwards. Assuming this is true, then this is not a standard CLL drug trial protocol and seems incomplete. As to CBC reflecting bone marrow clearance, I have experienced multiple instances of relatively good CBC results but high bone marrow involvement. In the end it is the bone marrow which is the heart, so to speak, of this disease and not to have post treatment BMBs seems very strange. >
