Guest guest
I am female 76 diagnosed with CLL 1994. Treated FCR 2010. I have just read a Mayo Clinic Health Letter, handed me by a friend, suggesting their researchers found CLL was 66% more likely to progress and require chemotherapy among those who had low vitamin D levels, than those with adequate vitamin D levels. Their study showing other findings associated with low Vitamin D levels and CLL. I have never had Vitamin D mentioned to me in 17 years (perhaps not needful). Have not knowingly been checked for any vitamin levels. Has anyone ever knowingly been tested for low levels of vitamin D or know of having that deficiency during the period of " watch an wait " or the period of approaching treatment? I hope to hear from the physicians in this group on this subject. Should we approach our oncologist about Vitamin D testing. I have recently joined this group and could have missed a discussion on this in the past. Thank you for any comment on this.
