Guest guest
Btk has been the most tolerable treatment for Tom. We are both very excited and thankful for Tom to be on this trial. The biggest side effect after 10 months on protocol for Tom are the following: 1. Skin rash that looks just like petechia--Tom's platelets stay between 100-140. That isn't low enough for petichia, right? 2. Folliculitis--this is some serious stuff that Tom puts Bactroban ointment on twice a day and still it is out of control. His face is covered in lesions on some days, but his upper thigh area has the really bad ones that now need to be seen by a dermatologist. Dr. Keating recommended oral antibiotics. 3. Possible skin cancer on face. Tom has already had melanoma following treatment with FCR. He is checked at least every 4 months by his dermatologist. Btk seems to be activating his skin issues. Is there any research supporting this?
