Wondering if anyone might know if it is safe to receive Tdap or tetanus vaccines when you have CLL. I have researched and found information stating the vaccine is safe; however, I am still apprehensive.
Guest guest
Hi Bonnie - here's a link to the excellent CLL Canada website. This link is to a list that shows all the vaccines that are safe for us folks with CLL (and those that we cannot have). http://cllcanada.ca/2010/index.htm?pages/shots_vaccines.html Basically CLLers can only receive " killed vaccines " And tdap is a killed vaccine. I just received a tdap vaccine last week. The CLL Canada website is a great source of information about CLL. It has a good site search engine that makes it easy to find the relevant articles you're looking for. Your posting indicates you were diagnosed w/CLL (last spring). Check out the recent postings the past 3-4 days on this site for " newly diagnosed " - it contains much info on helpful resources for someone newly diagnosed. /msearch_adv Good luck - Patti Kruse
