14q32 is the location of the immunoglobulin heavy chain gene

(IGH). It is a frequent site of translocations (genes moved

next to other genes) and deletions in B cell lymphomas as it

is a site where the DNA normally would break during the

process of B cell maturation.

It is not one of the classic CLL abnormalities that is

connect with prognosis. It is commonly seen in other

lymphomas. It can be seen in CLL though its meaning is quite

variable.

5' or 3' just refers to the different ends of the genes.
