Guest guest
-We have had liver problems before the IVIG,, elevated ALT, AST nothing to suggest hepatitis, but chronically fluctuating.... They just did a muscle biopsy to see if it may be Mitochondrial, or muscle , if this does not pan out we will do a liver biopsy.... elevated LFT for 2 years.....Kathleen mom to conan -- In , " sherrill c moseley, jr " <nxakmo@b...> wrote: > > HI. With the doctor saying it is something with the liver, have you been doing liver profiles the whole time while doing IVIG. We get our profile drawn every 6 months. Kaitlyn's have always been okay, thank goodness. She has been doing IVIG since 1996 and just started with Sub Q in July. We will continue to do the every 6 month draw. I would be interested in knowing what his levels are, and why the doctor would think it is the liver prior to having any blood drawn. > I agree that you should contact the IDF about the shortage possibility and to get info on the potential problem with his liver. We were told that when we started IVIG that there was a chance of there being liver damage due to the infusions, and that we would have to have a liver profile drawn every 6 months. Do you use an Immunologist or a ped for your IVIG? > I had heard that there was a shortage about 5 months ago and have been asking about it since to the IDF, Industry and the hospital and clinic. Everyone I talk with says there is no shortage and we have not had a problem getting our med. I don't know if the shortage could be in certain parts of the country or not. Always be carefule of having to use a different brand of IVIG, because you are more prone to have a reaction, however in saying that, if you cannot get your normal brand, then sometimes you have to use what they can get. I would make sure I got the lot number and info off of the med just in case there is a reaction. > I hope this helps and does not confuse you. Guest guest
Does anyone know if CLL can infiltrate the liver? My liver enzymes suddenly went up to extremely high levels(700-800) and I was put in the hospital. At first they thought it might be Richters Transformation. I had a PET scan, MRI, multiple tests for hepatitis, Epstein Barr, etc. They ruled Richters out and then thought that my nodes were pushing on the liver and causing the problem. I was put on Prednisone for 5 days; the enzymes went back down and I was released. Now, they are slowly going back up and I am to see a hepatologist and he wants a liver biopsy but I don't know why. Guest guest
I had a liver biopsy come back with CLL, but my enzymes were within reason, and it didn't cause a stir. CAT scan found growth on liver causing biopsy, but it stabilized. Joe
Guest guest
Yes, Cll can rarely infiltrate the liver.
Guest guest
I also remember my liver being checked at the same time as my spleen, every time I had a check up. Regards Chonette (UK)
