Guest guest
YOu will be thankful to know that California is one of the best states to live in, all three exemptions are available and easy to get. Stay strong at the dr.s office and let us know how it goes! List Owner of Vaccinations and Vaccine Info www.geocities.com/mom2q (my work in progress!) Mom of two great kids who are vaccine free! First Dr. visit since jumping sides! Hi all, Tomorrow will be our first Dr. visit since I began researching vaccines (about 2 months ago) and we decided to no longer vaccinate. I am a little nervous, this will be a well-check for my 5 1/2 yr old (who is up to-date except for the hep.B. which we will not be getting-

Does anyone know if in California we have a philosophical >exemption, or just religious? >> Yes, California has a philosophical question. Judging from comments from my husband's family who live in San Diego, this is common, so you shouldn't have a problem saying " we have decided to delay until we have more information " or something to that effect, or finding a physician who is sympathetic. As far as taking the religious exemption - no need to. Besides, when they say " religious " exemption they are usually speaking of specific faiths who have written statements regarding vaccination. If yours does not, then you are walking a fine line imo. The bible is up for interpretation, and just because you have read a passage a certain way, doesn't mean anyone else will agree with you. I don't necessarily agree with using arguments or defenses, in lieu of telling the truth, except in extreme cases where there is a fear of bodily injury. If your problems with the vaccines are not religious (you said they were more scientific) then you should take the philosphical exemption which calls into question the safety and efficacy of the procedures, not whether it will keep you from reaching your final destination. Anything you do will be absorbed by your children, and starting off on a falsehood is not a good plan, imo, especially when a viable alternative (and more fitting one) is available. Guest guest
Well, You said that you are very Christian. Vaccinations is against the bible. If you go to www.tetrahedron.org there is an exemption form full of bible verses. Second of all, vaccinations are not mandatory, so it has nothing to do with your doctor; therefore there is nothing to discuss. Just tell them that you do not vaccinate and leave it at that. Do not go in to detail. That is a mistake. And, If I were you, I would just put her well visit off and go to the other ped. And last, does she really need a well visit period? >From: " Rehmann " <marmeesez@...> >Reply-Vaccinationsegroups >Vaccinationsegroups >Subject: First Dr. visit since jumping sides! >Date: Tue, 28 Nov 2000 05:57:39 -0000 > >Hi all, > >Tomorrow will be our first Dr. visit since I began researching >vaccines (about 2 months ago) and we decided to no longer vaccinate. >I am a little nervous, this will be a well-check for my 5 1/2 yr old >(who is up to-date except for the hep.B. which we will not be getting- > I know he is going to ask about this) and for my 12month old, who >was up to-date untill 9 months. The best is to not try to explain anything. Just say you are choosing not to at this time or some such thing. Don't state any reason. Don't try to convince the doctor or educate them. Just be quiet and clear and don't make a big deal about it and often it will slide right past. If he does push you just repeat your mantra. > >Question? Does anyone know if in California we have a philosophical >exemption, or just religious? my children are home schooled, do I >need to give any reason to a dr.? Philosophical - if you ever do register for school at some point you get a form to fill in with vax's. You just sign the back where it says you refuse due to 'whatever' reasons - not sure what the form says. You don't have to explain you got some and now aren't - just sign the back of the form. There are no questions asked - if there are they are out of line. I will send you the California law and you may just want to have it printed out. You need no religious explanation. And in California there is NO law saying you have to vaccinate your babies - it is only around school. > >any thoughts? I was going to take a copy of a report of the hep. B >hearings to give hime if he really objects, and a copy of the press >release of the physicians group that called for a halt on all >mandatory vaccines untill more studies are done. Don't bother - believe me! You may want to send anonymously to educate him (if he would ever read it). But don't put yourself in that position. Hoping all will go smoothly. Remember you are the mom and you are employing him. Think of him like the plumber! Would you ever do what the plumber wanted you too if you didn't agree? Guest guest
, At our first visit after fully changing from all vacs to no vacs (all vax at 6 months, selective at 12 months, and none at 15 months), we just said we are not going to vaccinate at this time. They do have troubles understanding why someone would vaccinate and then stop. I guess they figure those who vaccinate are educated about them and those who don't aren't. I believe it is the other way around. Anyway, they still want to promote vaccinations. Unless you want to go through a huge rigamorall several times, I'd just continue to say we still are not vaccinating. Someone else on this list once suggested saying that you aren't vaccinating at this time and would rather not discuss it until you bring up the subject. Then you just never bring it up. The only reason to go is to get shots and since we don't get shots, there's not reason to go. I know that it's required to have a check-up before school starts, so I just told the doctor,,,we are here for a checkup, not shots, and just kept repeating myself. LOL!! << Question? Does anyone know if in California we have a philosophical exemption, or just religious? my children are home schooled, do I need to give any reason to a dr.? >> If your kids are homeschooled, you don't even need the well kid checkups at all. << We are very Christian, but besides feeling very strongly that we are stewards over our children who are blessing from God, and that we have to be wise stewards, our religion doesn't cover vaccines, that is why I feel uncomfortable using that as a reason...but is it just safer to say? Well, if you did that and you got your answer through prayer and study,,,,then darn it, it is a VALID RELIGIOUS reason! It's your personal religious belief between you and God. Also, when you choose a religious exemption, there is NOWHERE On that form that says you have to say what your religion is, NOR are they even allowed to ask. << any thoughts? I was going to take a copy of a report of the hep. He is not God, he is not your boss, he is your doctor and you PAY HIM for his services. If you don't want something, you don't have to have it PERIOD. You don't need to back it up, use excuses or anything, just say NO and that's that. IF he won't accept it, fire him and get a new doctor. That's what I did.
