Guest guest
Today I participated in a workshop over the telephone sponsored by CancerCare called " Updates on CLL. " One of the main speakers was Dr. Coutre, Assoc. Prof. of Medicine and Director of the Hematology Clinic at Stanford University. In his assessments of the various treatments, he said that " the jury is still out on ofatumumab " but that he was " excited " about Cal 101 and BTK inhibitor and that they were " remarkably effective " . My husband, aged 79 and a CLL patient of 10 years (Clorambucil, F/R, and Cytoxan/Pentostatin/Rituxan) is now facing the need to use ofatumumab. WBC, 192; platelet, 70; hemoglobin, 7.5; extremely large lymph nodes on neck making it difficult to sleep, extremely tired. The side effects I read about from Ofatumumab are frightening and it seems the best results in terms of an objective tumor response rate in a clinical trial of 59 patients was 42% and that lasted only 6.5 months. My questions: has anyone on the list tried it? What were their side effects? Are there any other possibilities? Does anyone know of any openings in Cal 101 trials? Thank you Donna
Guest guest
Donna - write to Dr. Furman about CAL-101. I had ofatumumab, it helps with PLTs and HGB. No side effects, once an infusion rash.
