Tigecycline is a member of the glycylcycline class of antimicrobials, which is

structurally similar to the tetracycline class, that demonstrates potent in

vitro activity against causative pathogens that are most frequently isolated in

patients with community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP)

However, recent concerns have emerged regarding tigecycline use in patients with

severe forms of CABP related to data obtained in patients with other forms of

severe infection, including HAP. (Hospital-acquired pneumonia)
