Regarding Well Baby Visits: Wow, if you have a pediatrician that respects

your choice not to vaccinate and that you feel comfortable with, and not

patronized by, you are lucky indeed. Here in Virginia that is not the case.

As I stated before, I am the prez of an organization that desperately tries

to locate those sorts of doctors for folks who make alternative and natural

living choices. I am sorry to say, we haven't found even one. There are a

handful who tolerate us and who feel obligated to provide some sort of

medical care when asked, but we are truly without the sort of pediatrician

you described. This has been one of the driving forces behind our group

getting organized in the first place - lack of medical resources. We have

people who move here from all parts of the country who ask us to hook them up

with peds who are friendly to unvaccinated children and we are always ashamed

to say we haven't really got one for them. I also have young moms calling me

and crying on the phone because they are trying to make informed choices for

their babies and being frightened, harrassed and even threatened by their

pediatrician - one said if she didn't vaccinate her child her would report

her to the Health Department - and they would call CPS. Our area in general

is not enlightened to healthy, alternative ways of living - another impetus

for the formation of our group. It is a tough part of the county to try to

raise a healthy child in - but we are trying to change that.

I have a friend near andria who has a great ped. No pressure to vaccinate

and she really likes him. I'l find out next time I talk to her and let you kn

ow.
