Some years ago, my PCP at the time, was going through my records and mentioned it, then looked some more and said " ...let's see, it looks like you've had this for...at least, fifteen years. " That, among other things, prompted me to change doctors but not before we did some exhaustive testing with a urologist, who found no apparent cause (idiopathic hematuria). Recently, my current PCP found that there was more blood than usual in my urine so I have an appointment with my urologist and I have a referral to a nephrologist. It could mean irritation from recent chemo or it could mean kidney involvement. I would ask your doctor to check your records and see if this is something recent or more long-term.
