Guest guest
Hi all: Many of us are so frustrated with Illinois state leadership, but this is an example of both great generosity and legislative advocacy by one of our outstanding north suburban legislators, Garrett. I received this from her this afternoon: January 8, 2008 Dear Friends, As you may have heard, back in August when the governor signed into law a pay increase for Illinois legislators, I said that I would not accept mine and would instead use it to provide scholarships for special education students. Today I presented a check in the amount of $5,700 to the Northern Suburban Special Education District (NSSED) Foundation Scholarship Fund. The NSSED Foundation has a program in place to award scholarships to special education students who are going on to college, as well as other students who are planning to pursue a career in special education, and my donation will fund five scholarships for 2008 high school graduates...
