Guest guest Posted January 24, 2011 Report Share Posted January 24, 2011 Clostridium difficile infection is an increasing burden to the health care system, totalling more than $1 billion/year in the United States (PMID: 19457418). C. difficile is a debilitating bacterial infection in the bowel, sometimes caught by CLL patients while they are in hospital (community acquired). It can reoccur many times and it can be fatal.
