Guest guest
every insurance is different !!!!!!! even " medicare " is NOT universal. depends on your plan, what ARE you paying for.... you have to read your policy, preferably before you buy it, but one can in some cases upgrade. OR since it's the beginning of the year, you may have a deductible to overcome first and then it will kick in. DO NOT listen to desk jockeys at doctors offices. they do not know YOUR policy. they just want to be paid. call your insurance companies and ask WHY or WHEN. OR it could be in this case that a 'vitamin' test is not considered in the acceptable area of treatment for 'oncology'.... the diagnosis that is written will determine if something is paid for. However, almost any doctor who is willing can help you once you find out why the insurance company is denying payment, he may need to write or call in an exception. Also every state is different in their laws and regulations as to what an insurance company MUST pay for. Example,,, CA requires that insurance companies pay for all drugs administered as part of a drug trial. one other state, but can't recall which. I believe someone posted a site that lists that information. Each state has an insurance regulatory agency, you can call and ask for a review of any bill... same with medicare, they have a 24/7 hot line too. (national) 800 331 7787... this is for cases where you must have treatment immediately and it's being denied, or if you suspect fraud. For any insurance, private, group etc, each part of your coverage will have a different department, ie, hospital, doctor and medication RX. Vitamin D tests are NOT expensive, overall, compared to many blood tests. well worth the cost in my opinion. If you are fine with waiting till you can get a test paid for then it may take longer to get your levels up to par. be well, beth fillman
