Requires contaminated material with horse poop with tet in it No guarantee vaccine works anyway If no primary series Doctor is supposed to give TIG NOT tetanus vax as for sure that won't be enough Tetanus Immune globulin is a BLOOD product - I certainly wouldn't want a blood product either these days Read the webpage Tetanus is extremely rare No guarantee that the vax even works AT ALL even when given in the series Also high reactions - I received 2 emails from adults last week with reactions - serious immune system ones I know its hard to know what to do, but vaccines are not the answer in MY opinion. Guest guest
I would not be too scared. Not every wound gets infected, it in fact very rarely happens. My parents did never receive immunisations against tetanus as children. In India, my husband´s country, people didn´t get vaccines either. He got his in his teenager years and so did his sisters. They had numerous falls and injuries while growing up, riding their bikes and so on. I understand your concern and your worries but getting injured does not mean you have to get the disease. Usually you have to be around dung to get it. Farmland and such. The doctor in the ER didn´t ask you? He was not aware of the fact that she was not immunized or why did he just give the regular shot? Usually they really give the immune globuline in an unimmunized case. If you can get your hands on Hypericum C200 or higher I would give her some 3-4 globules. I was told by my aunt, who is a Homeopath in Germany that this works wonders. Take care, a. Guest guest
Yes, the dr. was aware that she was not immunized at all, and ordered the DT for her, but I told him I only wanted the T. I'm thinking maybe the area was nothing at all to worry about for tetanus; but then he did give her an antibiotic. I'm going to follow up with my regular dr. tomorrow. Thanks for your info. Guest guest
They officially don't have the Tetanus vaccine for children just by itself in this country. One can actually give the shot for the adults, that's what my husband is telling me and he is a doctor but they usually refuse to do that because they just say that they don't have it. I had a talk with my pediatrician about this issue a long time back. a. > Yes, the dr. was aware that she was not immunized at all, and ordered the DT > for her, but I told him I only wanted the T. Guest guest
I am not surprised about the antibiotics, nothing of that sort surprises me when it comes down to having to go to a doctor. When I got a prescription I usually kept it as a souvenir. I am antibiotic free and so are my kids. So far, so good. a. Guest guest
Before I knew of the rarity of tetnus, I had my (then 17 month) son vaccinated for tetnus only. I go to the Woodlands Healing Research Center in Quakertown, PA. They have naturopathic (?) doctors, and don't believe in vaccinating. I find it hard to believe that they would have vaccinated my son without informing me that it was for adults only. I'm definately going to question them about this...Sharon Tetanus Again--Please help > > > > > > > > > > I know the subject of tetanus has been discussed before, but my case > > > > is slightly different. Guest guest
I am sorry, maybe I didn't make myself clear. The Tetanus vaccine for adults is exactly the same strength as the combined DT for children. There is no difference in strength but officially the pediatrician will tell you that there is no isolated Tetanus vaccine for children. So the doctors didn't do anything wrong in your child's case. You wanted the isolated vaccine and they gave it to him. Sorry about the misunderstanding. a. > Before I knew of the rarity of tetnus, I had my (then 17 month) son > vaccinated for tetnus only. Guest guest
a...Thank You!!! I was so worried that these doctors that I trust so much, and believe in, would give him something that was meant only for an adult. They didn't want to vaccinate him at all, but at that time my worries overcame my " good sense " . At least I know that the fact that there is no T only vaccine for children is just in the " official wording " . How sneaky!!!...Sharon Tetanus Again--Please help > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I know the subject of tetanus has been discussed before, but my > case > > > > > > is slightly different. Guest guest
I'm wondering if I could just get something clarified...my daughter is unvaxxed, but if I were ever to feel it necessary to take her to the ER with a concern about tetanus (not likely, but you never know), which is it I'm supposed to ask for? The immune globulin or the T only vax? Thank you.
