Guest guest
Hi Toby, As an example only, my hem/onc prescribes acyclovir, 400mg tablets, 1 tablet by mouth 3 times daily. Have been on acyclovir at that dosing since July 2009 when FCR treatment began. Labs show my B, T, natural killer (NK) and presumably dendritic cell counts are all and still profoundly suppressed 2 years on from treatment start. A different dosing may be appropriate for you based on your personal circumstances as determined by your doctor's assessment. Guest guest
I also take one 400mg tablet 3 times a day, since I had FCR June 2010. I was told I'd be on until my CD4 counts improved and maybe beyond that. Tim Klug wrote: /message/15548
Guest guest
Toby, I never had shingles but I am afraid of the thought of having shingles. I am 2 years and 4 months post SCT and I take Acyclovier 200mg, twice a day as prophylactic, this can be stopped after 18 to 24 months post transplant when all your test come out normal, however we chose to continue as the transplant consultant said that 30% of transplanted patients get shingles and they do not know why, so since I have not had any side effects in years of taking Acyclovier during all my treatments I feel safer to continue for as long as it needs.
