Guest guest
Common problem with CLL patients...probably histamines cause inflammation. Many CLL patients report being hyper sensitive to bug bites... Part of our messed up immune systems... ~chris CLL CANADA
Guest guest
Oh yes I have had this the past two summers. Most of mine are from my honeybees I keep six hives now. I now carry an epipen. Some swell more than others. I keep benedryl handy. Keep the blisters covered with an ointment and bandage until it is gone 10 to 14 days is an average for me. Sorry out of town and don't recall the name. Doug
Guest guest
What part of the country are you in? Can you describe the bug .. i.e. did it seem to have wings, many legs, what color etc.? There are some bugs in California and the South West that can carry disease, but the odds are you weren't bitten by one of them. Sounds like you are doing the right thing if the antibiotics were prescribed by a doc or ER who saw your bite. If it hasn't been seen, I think you should have a professional look at it to be on the safe side. Hope the bite subsides and you have a great vacation. Guest guest
Hi Guys - one of the best articles I found about insect/bug bites was on updates@cll topics. It's titled " Insect Bites " and dated 4/25/10. I have attached a link to the article. http://updates.clltopics.org/2214-insect-bites If you're registered at updates.clltopics.org - scroll through all the community comments. has one on 4/25/10 that discusses using D-Limonene as an insect repellant. There is also a comment on 5/21/10 that discusses using Tea Tree oil immediately after getting an insect bite. Patti Kruse

Guest guest
Suzanne, A pharmacist told me that, among pharmacists, the only thing that really works to soothe itching of bug bites has ammonia in it. If itching isn’t the problem but pain is, hopefully someone will have some useful suggestions. Working in a summer camp in the woods, I developed a routine that has protected me reasonably well from bites of bugs that climb up from the ground like chiggers/redbugs, etc. I spray my shoes, socks, and the bottoms of my pants legs -- I don’t wear shorts – with insect repellent. That may or may not apply to your situation. Best wishes in dealing with the discomfort, Karni
Guest guest
Ammonia works very well to remove the itch but hurts incredibly if used on open bites like from deer flies or black flies. 'No pain no gain' comes to mid... The commercial products is called 'Afterbite' ~chris
