Guest guest
CLL is often described as the most common type of leukemia in the Western world. But did you also know that it is also considered by the NIH to be a rare and neglected disease? As a result of the very small market, many pharmaceutical companies are reluctant to take on the risks and expense of trying to develop new drugs for these conditions. To expedite drug development the NIH has started 5 pilot projects under the Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases (TRND) Program. CLL is the only cancer included.
