Dr. told us best indication as to whether MDS has transformed to AML is by % of Blasts in blood and bone marrow sample. Guest guest Posted August 26, 2011 Report Share Posted August 26, 2011 Hal, % blasts are not normally recorded on the CBC and are often only picked up on manual review of the peripheral blood smears. On also has to be careful, as CLL patients can rarely have cells that are called blasts by the people who review smears. These really are just activated lymphocytes in those patients.
