Guest guest
Friends, I have been arguing for years that everyone needs a CLL specialist on their team. Now it is proven. Without a CLL guru, it is like getting FC without the R. Odds are that you will not live as long. From ACS- and its CANCER Journal " Among early-stage patients (Rai 0-I), median TTFT (9.2 vs 6.1 years; P < .001) and OS (10.5 years vs 8.8 years; P< ..001) were longer for patients cared for by CLL hematologists. For all patients, OS was superior for patients cared for by CLL hematologists (10.5 years vs 8.4 years; P = .001). Physician's disease-specific expertise remained an independent predictor of OS after adjusting for age, sex, stage, and lymphocyte count at diagnosis. " See my blog to see the abstract: http://tinyurl.com/3l2dcqm or http://bkoffman.blogspot.com/2011/08/getting-right-doctor-can-save-your-life.htm\ l It is an exciting time: Arming T cells with smart bombs, oral specific kinase inhibitors, immune modulators. The trick is stay alive long enough to get the benefits and you need an expert to help you make the right choices to do that. And this advice is coming from a family doc, a GP, a general practitioner who lives by the Gospel of holistic medicine. Stay strong. We are all in this together.
