Guest guest
My daughter and I do nursing home visits, sometimes with our 4H group and sometimes with other friends. We usually take supplies to do some sort of craft, like making a Christmas card or a simple decoration for their rooms. We pass out the supplies and then walk around and help as needed, mostly just visit with the people. loves the people. She had a grandmother in a nursing home for awhile after surgery and she ran around visiting everyone then. They seem to enjoy the visits. We've always been welcomed. We also planted flowers in the spring and maintained them thru the summer, and the residents seemed to enjoy that. Gloria Do we know of other Community Service Groups around the state? Anyone else know of community service opportunities for teens or adults with developmental disabilities around the state? That you've either done on an individual basis or through a group or organization? How did it go? What's worked well; what obstacles, if any, have you encountered; and how did you solve the problems? Share your experiences here with the group!
