Guest guest
Researchers in Canada have found bedbugs carrying antibiotic-resistant superbugs, a surprising finding because it was thought the pests were not capable of spreading infections. quote: " We report recovery of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE) from bedbugs " end quote: The study paper is available from the CDC and will be published next month in Emerging Infectious Diseases http://www.cdc.gov/eid/content/17/6/pdfs/10-1978.pdf or http://tinyurl.com/6boakcj
Guest guest
Bedbugs! Ugh, I'm sure we all have them to some degree. What can be done to minimize bedbugs (other than the usual sanitary means such as clean bed linens, etc)? Is there any kind of bug spray that can be used periodically on the mattress & box springs to kill the bedbugs? Thank you - Patti K
Guest guest
Gosh - do you really think we all have bed bugs to some degree? I would worry that the preventive efforts would be toxic! > > Bedbugs! Guest guest
Bedbugs are a definite problem for travelers. A BIG PROBLEM... My husband thought he brought them home from a Cincinnati motel after several days and of added bites. We spent close to $600 in measures to insure they would not continue to be problematic in our home. When traveling, I personally have a few ideas to keep them at bay and avoid bringing them home: 1) since they don't like lights, put your suitcase(s) in the bathroom up on the counter or shelf and leave the lights on overnight. 2) Bed, Bath and Beyond has a zip in bag that is supposed to be bedbug proof and you can even take your pillow in before you zip it shut. (could be a problem if you are claustrophobic). #1 can hopefully prevent them from traveling home with you and #2 can possibly prevent YOU, the motel occupant, from getting bitten during your stay. And if you must have items on floor... tightly plastic bag every and anything.
