Career Planning for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders

The dramatic rise in autism across the country has created a WAVE of

individuals that will be crashing the shores of the workforce. The

majority of autism research and training has focused on children,

but now more attention is being placed on the long-term outcomes of

people with autism spectrum disorders. Career planning is the key to

a successful future. The Great Wave Tour will provide a guide on how

to assist each person with autism in navigating the rough waters of

the job market. The 3 hour presentation will cover:

Target Audience: This presentation is designed for career

counselors, job developers, job coaches, students, parents,

vocational coordinators, teachers, teacher assistants, case

managers, therapists, special education administrators, and

rehabilitation administrators.

About the Presenter: Emmett is a national leader in

development of employment services for persons with autism spectrum

disorders as well as in assisting corporations in creation of

outreach efforts to the disability and autism communities. He is an

individual with a disability and a parent of three daughters with

disabilities. currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer

of Integrated Behavioral Systems. recently completed 1.5

years working as the Disability Program Manager for Walgreens

helping set up the company's national disability initiative, and

also assisted Easter Seals National in laying the foundation for

their national autism services network.

The Great Wave Tour begins in Naperville on January 24, 2008, with 3

time options to meet your schedule (9am - 12pm, 1pm - 4pm, & 6pm -

9pm).
