Guest guest
Hi All, Perhaps some of the experts can help me? I understand a little about the evidence of the importance of VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) in CLL, and that it may be a good therapeutic target for treatment of the disease. Because of its role in stimulating PKCâ expression and VEGF is implicated as a factor contributing to the anti apoptopic survival loop in CLL cells. For me as a patient this highlights the significance of me considering trying EGCG capsules. I have not heard so much about green tea extracts recently. EGSG's apparent ability to induce apoptotic cell death in CLL cells, through its effects on the VEGF receptor being the route of this therapy. Is this only effective in early CLL? Higher levels of over expression of VEGF appear to be associated with CLL cells with CD38+ and unmutated IGVH genes. There are many potential physical effects to VEGF over expression. Does the EGCG extract have any effect on reducing the consequences of this over expression on other cell lines/ body functions? Are there any papers discussing the long term physical effect of VEGF over expression in CLL patients? Much of my understanding on this topic has come from Professor Hamblin's writings in his blog; http://mutated-unmuated.blogspot.com Kind regards Nick (UK) Trisomy 12, CD38+,unmutated
