Guest guest
My wife has CLL/SLL & Lupus. She had a CT Scan with Contrast done last Monday. From the point of needle insertion on her arm there is a vein running diagonally across her arm that is reddish slightly swollen and spreads out in a starburst pattern at the lower ends. This has gotten steadily worse over the week. Has anyone else had a reaction to this after a scan? Is it normal? At what point do we need to have it looked at by a doctor? Will it simply go away on it's own. Thanks for your input. Brett
Guest guest
It sounds as if she might have developed a thrombophlebitis from the IV. I would start with warm soaks. If it worsens further, or it you start having fevers or feeling unwell, I would see you physician immediately. Rick Furman > > My wife has CLL/SLL & Lupus. Guest guest
Does your wife have an undiagnosed iodine/seafood allergy? You should seek medical attention. ~chris > > My wife has CLL/SLL & Lupus. She had a CT Scan with Contrast > done last Monday. Guest guest
The CAT scan dye is the non-ionic type. I have had 2 serious, anaphylactic allergic reactions to this dye (the second time after pre-treatment with benadryl and prednisone with no effect) and allergic reactions can happen VERY fast - in my case within the first few seconds after the dye was administered. I have no problems whatsoever with MRI dye which is the iodine-based dye. I would certainly seek out a physician for the reaction you describe.
