Guest guest
Our listerserver has put out a call to CLLers in & around the NYC area to attend a private workshop featuring one of the most outstanding doctors in modern hematology/oncology, Dr. Morton . Dr. has been a practicing physician for over 48 years and is undisputedly one of the most knowledgeable about CLL/SLL as well as many other lymphomas and myelomas. Dr. was Director of the Center for Lymphoma and Myeloma at NY Presbyterian Hospital when Dr. Furman started up his practice there and they have worked very closely together as physician colleagues and researchers. His list of honorary appointments and awards is too extensive for here and is available to anyone through Google. This is a chance to hear and direct questions to one of those top experts in our disease field we are always telling members to consult with about their diagnosis and treatment regimens. He's also a kind, delightful man who exudes optimism — and backs it up! Dr. gave a talk at Gilda's Club I attended three weeks after I'd been diagnosed. He removed many of my fears and gave me real hope. My having lived a pretty normal life while having CLL and being treated for it has proven him right. When several doctors diagnosed a good friend of mine with aggressive Mantle Cell Lymphoma and told her to begin tx immediately or be dead in a few weeks, she stubbornly kept consulting and finally found Dr. , who said that while he understood why these doctors misinterpreted the slides, she had CLL/SLL and did not need treatment. In the years that followed, she never did have chemo for it. If you can possibly make it on Saturday, Oct. 15th, e-mail immediately at JB50192 @ aol.com If he doesn't hear from enough of us right now, the workshop will be cancelled. That would be a really big lost opportunity. " Frances Friedman, " (aka Ellen F.Diamond)
