Guest guest
That is a GREAT idea, Charlotte. I may have his contact info but if you have it handy, pass it on and I will call him. I will let everyone know when Asher (my hubby) gets his FEIN number...we started our process on Jan. 9th...he applied for the Fein, and we have signed up, I think, about 4 Direct Support Workers between Jan 9 and yesterday. So, let's see how long the application process REALLY takes! Our goal is to use some of Noah's funding in the first month in which it became available to him. Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... ACES$ and FEIN numbers Greetings, Folks! Jury duty is over and now I am in SERIOUS catch-up mode. One thing I have been working on for way too long is the Home-Based Support Services " Frequently Asked Questions " document I want to post on our website. Yesterday morning (very early) I sent from ACES$ the section I had written on their services asking for comments and clarifications. I had included a question addressing the idea of applying for the FEIN number before even getting your award letter to speed up the process. asked me NOT to include that suggestion and I quote him below. " Please do NOT encourage people to get EIN¢s on their own. They will not know the correct information to give the IRS to ensure that they are set up properly. The only delay in signing up with us is a 5 to 7 day period to process the paperwork. They can sign up with us the day they receive their award letter. " Ellen, I am wondering if it wouldn't be just a brilliant idea to ask to be one of your " guest speakers " ? Okay, back to work..... Guest guest
Hi Ellen- I am a couple weeks ahead of you, as I mentioned awhile ago when you first asked for posts on Home Based Support, and from what I understand, we cannot access the $ that became available to my son from the date we received his award letter, until I was approved as his personal support worker, (and my husband received his FEIN no.) UNLESS, my son received services from an approved medicaid provider between the date of the award to the PSW/FEIN approval. If anyone knows differently, PLEASE let me know!! We filled out all the forms for Aces$ the last week of Nov., and I called Brad of Aces$ on around Dec. 26th to ask why we hadn't heard anything, and he said that they were still waiting for my husband's FEIN no., but that I could start filling out the timesheets for personal care on Jan. 1st. So, in other words, for us, it took a little over a month to access my son's funding. Because we weren't approved for PSW's or had an FEIN no., our agency told us we couldn't access the funding previous to when that happened, but as I said before, there is still alot of learning about the Adult Waiver that the agencies still need to figure out, so we definitely should try to get an Aces$ person on IPADD as a featured guest- (or Brad , who helped us fill out all the forms, and I just e-mailed our first timesheet to a couple days ago!) thanks...
